Stands and Stuff
This gallery has some other stuff I’ve done along with the hornwork.

I realize that putting gold leaf on this thing may have been gilding the lily but I had an opportunity to learn from a master at restoring old, I’m talking 1400’s, frames and I couldn’t resist.
The base of the stand is purpleheart. The uprights are rosewood. They’re lined with buckskin. The bases are gilded in 24k gold leaf in a freeform design.
I did silver wire inlay in the base in a design echoing the engraving around the throat of the horn.

I put this knife together with a beavertail dagger blade I had. It has walnut scales and silver wire inlay. I gave it away as the aggregate hawk and knife prize at a rendezvous in 2008.
