The Eaton Horn
One of my early horns, I made this for a good rendezvousing buddy of mine. This horn is the only one I have made so far with a turned and chip carved base plug.
Click on the small picture to enlarge it. Once you are in the slide view mode you can use the arrows to see another picture. You get a good look at the carving on the edge of the butt plug here. You can also see the name of the owner in a simple cartouche. I like to experiment with different fonts and since this horn was a gift I did not have to worry about making the recipient happy. This font is called “bad acid.” If you knew my friend you’d agree that it seems appropriate for him.
I did some very simple engrailing around the throat of the horn. It has a faceted neck a double ring and then a faceted spout. I did not dye this horn.
I turned the butt plug out of cherry and then chip carved it.
My friend’s Indian name is Strong Hand so I did a hand holding a tomahawk above the script “Strong Hand.”
