The Thompson Horns
Here are two horns which were done for a couple. His was done some years ago. Hers was originally done as a grand prize for the ladies shooting aggregate at a rendezvous in 2008. I added the hawk and her name after the rendezvous.

A Flat Horn
The is the first flat horn I ever made. I made it as the ladies aggregate shooting prize at a rendezvous in 2008. The butt plug is walnut which I “trayed” and then inlaid silver wire. I considerd this a “learning” horn.

Earl Thompson His Horn
The cartouche and lettering on the Thompson horn and the date I finished it.

Hawk
This was a F&I style horn with a tab for attaching the strap. As I had done on several horns I cut weeping hearts into the tab and did a vine motif around the base which meets in a cameo at the attachment point. Inside the cameo is a primitive hawk. Next to the engraved band is a rendition of a hawk sitting on a branch.

The Earl Thompson Horn
This was a large F&I style horn with a maple butt plug. It was lightly engrailed and carved with a plain neck, double ring, a tulip and faceted spout. I liked the color of the horn so much I did not dye it.
